First day of appeal against Monklands incinerator proposal, 19 January 2012

Today (19 Jan) the appeal by North Lanarkshire Council against Shore Energy's proposals for a waste incinerator at Carnbroe began today at the Court of Session in Edinburgh. 13 attendees including local Cllr Jim Brooks listened to NLC presenting a strong case challenging the decision notice issued by the Reporters last year. Douglas Armstrong QC appointed by the Council led the charge on two points - the assertion by the Reporters there was an "urgent need" for this facility and the proximity principal.
