Biomass jobs cost £1-2 million each, 21 June 2011

(message from Almuth from Biofuelwatch, 21 June)

Hi

The Coedbach Action Team, who successfully campaigned against two proposed 50 MW import-reliant biomass power stations proposed in Wales, forwarded me their evidence about biomass power stations and jobs which they had submitted to the Planning Inspectorate. I have attached their document:

110621_Coedbach_evidence_on_biomass_power_station_jobs.pdf

The main conclusion is that each job created by a biomass power station like the ones proposed by Forth Energy requires £1-2 million investment - which of course largely means subsidies.

This may be a useful for countering Forth Energy's claims about job creation and economic benefits.

Best wishes,

Almuth
